One day while I was cleaning out my closet I came across my baby book. It's always funny to see old pictures of yourself, so I thought I'd share and compare.
And I thought Sierra was chubby! I think I was a pound heavier than her at six months!

Cute Keira
Mid November
It's a good thing Sierra still wakes up to eat! After the early morning feeding, I checked on my little cutie and this is what I found. Lol!

It was a fabulous fall! It's been unusually warm and not snowy. We've enjoyed extra time outside!
After Thanksgiving Laura moved out. The girls and I sure miss her! My brother and us four all helped her move and we got done in record time! (I guess this had nothing to do with Keira.)
My poor sweetheart wasn't feeling well and put her head down while eating breakfast. Sooo unlike her!

Disney on Ice- Dare to Dream
Keira and I went on a mommy daughter date with my best friend Maria and her daughter Jordan. I was quite impressed and the girls were in heaven! It was sooo much fun... until....

So much fun!
... Keira threw a massive tantrum as soon as we exited. It was humiliating and almost ruined the day.
Unfortunately Maria and Jordan gave Keira about ten princess costumes and now she wants to wear them non-stop.
But besides occasional tantrums and deliberate disobeying, Keira is doing great! She is usually so cute and smart and fun! She loves her baby sister and is quite helpful! All of her sweet and wonderful qualities do override those darn tantrums. She is such a blessing to our family!
Grandma's 85th Birthday Bash
In mid November we took our first road trip out to Reno and California. We drove about 12 hours on day one and eight on day two. For the most part, the girls did fantastic!!!
Near Glenwood Springs, CO.
We stayed the night in a motel in Ely, NV.
We arrived in Reno, NV just in time to eat a late lunch at the best fast food restaurant ever... In 'n Out! Yummy! It never disappoints! Wendy and David were sweet enough to meet us there to join in the deliciousness!
On the second day Jeremy and Wendy took us to Lake Tahoe. It was BEAUTIFUL! Even on this freezing cold and windy, then snowy day. It was so windy that the lake looked like an ocean with the large waves.
I was so excited to see that they live right down the street from a beautiful temple! Chris was kind enough to take us there before heading to sunny (snowy) CA!
After a VERY long drive to Paradise, three hours turned into seven hours of driving because they closed the I-80 heading that way we arrived we were greeted by Chris' Grandma, Grandpa Long, and Aunt Sherri! We helped set up the clubhouse a little for party the following day.

We stayed the night in Reno and then drove to Salt Lake the following day to visit Chris' cousins Mike, Megan, and Max. We hadn't seen them in almost a year and it was amazing how much bigger Max was and how well he's talking. These kids sure grow up fast!
It was so wonderful to see our family who were able to make it! We had a great trip and the girls did wonderful!

In Other News

Laurie and I were having a silly night taking pictures and posting them to Facebook. Don't I look like I'm about to fall asleep? I was!
Most importantly, about a month ago I took Jason to the vet because he had really started to limp. The limp actually began in mid May, after we would wear him out playing fetch. And then he'd be fine and back to normal. So the vet and we thought nothing of it. But it kind of started getting worse over the summer and by September he would limp after chasing a squirrel and even after going for a mile or so walk. It wasn't improving, so it was time to take him in. It was especially bad the day I made the appointment. It turns out he ruptured his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his left hind leg. They told us the surgery would cost about $3,100. After a week of research I found a low-cost vet clinic and they said they could do a similar sugary, ACL banding, for much cheaper, $865. After hearing the quote for $3100, that sounded much better. And although he does annoy me something, he really is such a great dog and so good with kids. Not to mention he's part of the family. So we did it. He had surgery two weeks ago this Friday.
It's been pretty pitiful. He hates the cone and continually runs into everything. He's still mostly non weight bearing on the leg that had surgery. I just hope the other knee doesn't go out, as it's likely to do. We've decided we really can't afford more than one surgery, so wish us luck! I think he'll be a lot happier on Friday when we can take the cone off. Poor Jase!
And last but not least, isn't my brother the coolest uncle ever!?
Sierra's Five Months
*Ya know, I've used all of Sierra's pics in other posts, so I don't have many new ones. Sorry for all of the reading.
My little Sweetheart is now five months old. By Keira, she's often known as Sierrabeara. As ridiculous as it is, I've found myself calling her that twice now also. But my usually nicknames for her are Cutie, Cuteness, Smiley, Sweetie, or Sweetheart. Actually all three of them (Chris, Keira, and Sierra) are all referred to as Sweetie or Sweetheart.
Sierra is just a bundle of joy and happiness. I just can't imagine our life without her. She is soooo smiley and is such a good baby! She smiles every time someone smiles at her and even when you're not smiling. She doesn't cry very often and when she does, it's usually for a good reason. She has recently learned how to make more sounds with her tongue and mouth and blows out with her tongue sticking out whenever she's happy. She's also learning to blow bubbles. She is so cute! I giggle with joy just thinking about her.
She can now sit up for several minutes at a time. It's so cute!
I think the first time she rolled over was over a month ago, and she finally did it for me two weeks ago. She's not a huge fan of rolling over though.
She loves to chew on things and is always looking for something to put in her mouth. If she can't find anything, it's her hand. She's also starting to like her paci more and loves to have it for naps and bedtime.
For the last couple of weeks she's been going all night without eating! It's been FABULOUS!!! She does usually wake up once or twice wanting her paci. She's so cute, she makes a couple of little moans so I'll hop up and put it back in her mouth and she'll turn her head to the side and go right back to sleep. She might actually go back to sleep on her own if she wasn't still in her bassinet in our room. I know, she's five months and is really outgrowing it, but I just can't let her go. I love having her in our room with me and hearing all of her little noises. I can't stand to think of her in that big crib all by herself. Although for some reason it's perfectly fine for Keira. Actually Keira started sleeping in her crib at four months. But I'm having a hard time with it knowing that this might be the last time a baby sleeps in our room. :-( I'll have to do it soon though.
Speaking of sleeping, Sierra is such a good sleeper! Sometimes she'll go for up to 12 hours at night without eating. I usually put her down in the pack and play in the living room around 7:30-9pm. When I go to bed I put her in our room and feed her if she wakes up, which she usually doesn't. She sleeps in what I call a sleeping bag, a little winter suit at night. She seems to love and it she stays nice and cozy. I usually swaddle her somewhat loosely for naps (since I'm usually right there close). She generally takes one long nap a day, for about two hours. She's pretty flexible with it and can take it in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on our schedule. Although it's sometimes a disadvantage, I try to make my kids pretty flexible with naps where they're not on a rigid time schedule and don't need to be in a certain location. I know I always hear how babies are supposed to be in a schedule. And she is somewhat, but it worked well for Keira not to be on a rigid schedule, and so far it's working for Sierra too.
Nursing is going great! It goes so much quicker now-a-days. She can pound it down! No more spending four hours a day nursing! She usually eats about five times and probably for less than five minutes on each side. She also usually goes about three hours between feedings. It's been so great! It's not consuming my day nearly as much. And I feel like my day isn't revolving around nursing. She's also not as messy of an eater, which is super nice. However, she has been spitting up a lot lately, like totally randomly. I'll burp her after feeding and get an awesome burp, keep going, and then when I think all is clear, she spits up all over her cute shirt and me. Laurie and Chris make fun of me for not constantly having a burp cloth or something with me. One of these days I'll learn- or she'll stop!!! She's definitely getting plenty to eat. ;-)
The little cutie reaches for EVERYTHING! She's always got her little hand going after something, flexing and extending her fingers. It makes it much harder to feed her while I'm eating. She reaches for the fork and for my drink, and for everything! But luckily, now that nursing isn't consuming so much of the day, I can plan around it a little better. However, with my lack of time management skills it often times becomes a necessity so we can rush out of the door. Although not necessarily eating, she does get to join us at the table quite frequently on my lap. She's getting a little too big for the little Bumbo-like chair and we haven't broken out the high chair yet. And I love for her to be with us, and so does she. But now I really have to be careful because the little stinker with her sticky little fingers grabs onto my plate, and tries to catch my glass, and my fork....
Sierra loves being with people. And she LOVES her little sister. It's so cute how she so intently watches Keira. And Keira just adores her! Keira is such a great little helper! She's been so good about running to get me a Kleenex when I have a hand full of spit up, or running to get a toy or paci when she gets fussy in the middle of my shower. Because of Sierra, Keira often pretends she's a baby also. Or more often, she pretends she's a mommy to her Baby Rupenzel or her My Little Pony, Sweetie Belle. She loves baths, being changed, chewing, and being outside. She truly is such a bundle of joy. I love her more than I could imagine!
