Teething?

I think Keira might be teething. She's been unusually fussy. For the last few nights she's been having episodes where she cries for 3-10 minutes (longer if I'm not home) and I can't do anything to make her stop, my usual tricks weren't working. It's been very sad. She puts everything in her mouth and loves to chew on things and she's drooling a lot. I hope it doesn't last long!

I still haven't decided if it's a good idea to put her in her highchair while we eat. Although we love having her join us, I hope it's not teaching her bad habits to let her play with her toys.

Growing Up

My little girl is growing up.

Yesterday she rode in the stroller for the first time without her infant seat. She loved it! She could actually look around and didn't have to look up the entire time.

She also was in the carrier facing me for the first time. Usually she's burritoed in there sideways. She's still a little too small to face out which she'll really enjoy.

Chris' New Car

On Sunday Chris will be flying to New Jersey to pick up his new 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This is his dream car he's been wanting for many years. He's very excited!

Sitting

Keira is starting to get the hang of sitting! She sat for at least a minute all by herself tonight while we were folding laundry on my bed. She's a cutie! :o)

Five Months!

Happy Five M0nth Birthday Keira!!! Keira is doing fantastic (besides her little bout of being sick)! Some of her favorite things are...
Smacking her lips. I think it's so cute when she does it as she's standing looking around.
Sticking out her tongue. She wants to taste everything and loves to chew on things but is very picky about it. She's not a fan of the different teething toys I got her. But she loves my fingers, and hers, and her toes. I haven't started her on solids yet, but we're going to have fun with it! I'm going to try to wait a little closer to six months unless she doesn't seem satisfied with just milk. I don't think she seems quite ready for food. (But what do I know!) She is very interested in us eating. She reaches for everything we put up to our mouth and reaches for our plates. She also enjoys sitting in her highchair watching us eat. I do feel a little guilty though. But she doesn't know what she's missing yet.
She loves "flying" and exploring. She's always looking at and reaching for things. She's not really one to sit still and she gets bored pretty easily. She really enjoys standing, and then will take a little sitting break, and then want to stand again, and then reach for something low, and then stand again, etc.
Her favorite thing right now is being tucked under my arm and going everywhere I go. She's happy just being on the move and looking around as we walk around the house. Besides being held, she likes her play gym, jumperoo, being in her crib, and she's tolerating tummy time a little better.
Keira's rolling over now! She has been for a couple of weeks. It's kind of hard to catch on camera, but we have some cute videos of it. It's more like falling over than rolling over. Sometimes it even surprises her, she looks a little startled and thinks "Fantastic, I don't have to be on my tummy any more!" She's rolled both ways starting on her back and front, but it mostly happens when she's on her tummy. If she started on her back, it's probably a mistake and she gets upset because her arm gets stuck under her. I'm definitely more careful now!
Keira is just a delight! She is so much fun! She loves making noises and makes such cute little sounds! She has quite a high pitched voice. Hopefully she won't take after me and will have a great singing voice! She is still sleeping 11-12 hours at night which has been fabulous. However, she sleeps so much at night that she doesn't nap much during the day. I think I'm getting better about just putting her down. I think before I wasn't really realizing that she's probably getting fussy because she's tired. But she usually only sleeps for about a half an hour (sometimes a little more) 2-3 times a day. It makes it a little harder to get things done. Now she pretty much relies on having her pacifier to help her get to sleep which is a little bit of a bummer. But we do our little bedtime routine, I put her down in her little sleeping bag, sometimes she fusses a couple of times and opens her mouth like she needs the pacifier, I plop it in, and falls asleep within a few minutes for the rest of the night. I feel very blessed that she's such a good nighttime sleeper, so far. I recently had to put away all of her three months clothes which was sad. It's amazing how fast they grow! I don't really realize it until things don't fit her anymore. I have loved every stage of her growth and development and look forward to all of the rest!

Sick Keira

This weekend our baby girl was not feeling well. :-( She got sick Saturday late morning just before I had to leave for work. It's hard enough to leave to go to work but when your baby girl isn't feeling well it makes it that much worse. Luckily Daddy was able to spend most of the day cuddling and watching movies with her. The next morning she had a fever of 102.8 and was lethargic and wimpering. After some cooling measures, Tylenol, some lovin' from her Mommy, and a couple of hours she was feeling a lot better. It absolutely broke my heart to see her not feeling well. :-( Thank goodness she's feeling better. I hope she NEVER gets sick again!!! ;-)

Aloha!

It's official, we will be celebrating our five year anniversary this March in Hawaii! Maui to be exact! I'm sooooo excited! This has been my dream vacation for as long as I can remember!
