Breech Advise?

She's not even born and already taking after her daddy- causing trouble. ;-) We had another OB appointment on Monday and she's still breech. They'll check again in two weeks and then start discussing options. They mentioned something, I can't remember what it's called, but I'd have to go to the hospital and they'd give me medicine (which I don't want) and internally flip her. I know there are risks. In fact, I was talking to my friend Mariana and in Brazil they stopped doing this procedure in the 1960's. And two of her husband's family members are surgeons and they suggested to just have the C section. So medically, I think the only other option is a C section.

I of course will do whatever is best for Keira. But I do not want a C section. I WANT the thrill of my water breaking, to feel contractions, and to excitingly rush to the hospital. I don't want it to be scheduled, although it would be kind of cool for her birthday to be 9/9/09. I want to have a natural delivery and am not a fan of the idea of this flipping procedure. Have any of you had it?

I have a lot of research to do. But have you heard of any other options? Acupuncture? Someone said something about some herbal smells? Handstands? ;-) Anything??? What are the chances of her flipping on her own? We still have seven weeks.

On a positive note, she (my fundus) measured perfectly this time! :o) I am getting so excited! I can't wait to meet our beautiful little girl!!!

Today...

6 years ago was our first kiss.
I went over to Chris' house for an innocent massage, or so I thought. I told him I'd do anything to repay him for the massage, never expecting he'd want a kiss. As I was walking out of the door, Chris said "how about a kiss?" While I stuttered saying "Well I... huh...." he said, "Just a small one?", and before I could stop him he leaned over and planted one on me.

Chris and I had worked together several times since December, especially during spring break. I think I stole his heart in May during the AMR bike team try outs. He was the leader and thought nobody was behind him because he was going too fast. He was surprised to turn around and find me there so he went even faster. I was thinking, "That jerk, he sped up!" After the tryouts I had a dead car battery and he jumped my car and offered to fix it for me, I was quite impressed. We started e-mailing each other and trying to pick up more shifts together. He took me mountain biking for my first time ever on my bike without suspension on a very steep and hard ride, thinking I was in good biking shape after how I did at the tryouts. I thought I was going to pass out and he'd never want to hang out with me again. As we hung out (as friends I thought and dating Chris thought), he definitely grew on me. I'd say we started dating in September. Here's a couple of pics of us in October, our early days of dating.

5 years ago Chris asked for my hand in marriage.
We took a little anniversary camping trip to 11 Mile Reservoir and he took me canoeing for my first time. It was a blast! We canoed to a beautiful little cove and Chris read me a SWEET little note he had written. He then handed me a gift in a ziplock bag. Puzzled, I looked at the floating whistle. I then noticed a beautiful, shiny diamond ring attached to it. He then got down on one knee in the canoe and asked me to marry him. I had no idea it was coming, mostly because I knew he didn't have the money for ring, and it was the happiest day of my life to that point!

4 years ago and 4 months we got married.
3 years ago next month we bought our first house.
And in about seven weeks we'll have our first baby!

Rough Four Days

I'm sorry, but may I take a minute to complain? I have had a really bad last few days and it's all my fault. Warning: This will be boring.

Chris and I had the day off together on Thursday, first one for a while and I wanted more than anything to go on a nice long bike ride. Not knowing if he would come with me, I was looking at the possibilities. I found one we did last year to REI (downtown area) and back and thought that looked good despite being what I thought was 60 miles. I was very excited when I saw it was 60 kilometers, big difference, much more doable. So Chris agreed to come with me, but only about half the distance, I was so excited about going for a ride with him I didn't care. So where I thought we would turn around he kept going. I hadn't prepared myself mentally for the longer ride and was getting hungry after passing some delicious smelling BBQs at a park and one of my favorite restaurants, a brand new Panera Bread, but super excited that he wanted to go further. I think the last couple of miles, around mile 18 I was starting to slow down. I didn't realize it but Chris said he would slow down for me to catch up and then start going again but I would fall behind again despite him slowing down. I was blaming it on turns, I'm not as fast as him around all of those darn corners, especially now.

We finally made it to REI and I was pretty tired. It was nice to just sit and eat our Carb Boom. I was not ready to head back, we stayed for probably about 30 minutes. Finally it was time and we decided to hopefully take a trail and small city streets back which would save us about 10 miles. Let me tell you, it was a miserable ride home. I was exhausted. It was funny because since about May, I've really missed mountain biking or doing something like a triathlon that left me feeling exhausted. Well I had done it and maybe felt more exhausted than I had ever felt before. It's funny, because when I get to that point my legs don't burn or anything, I just have nothing left in me. And if I don't have anything left in me, what about Keira? So not only was I exhausted, I was also very upset and worried about Keira. And I think I was having some braxton hicks. This is turning out to be much longer than I expected. I hope you're not still reading.

We finally very slowly made it back home. No wonder Chris doesn't like to bike anymore. I felt better after drinking chocolate milk and showering. We then went to Lonestar Steakhouse and had a delicious steak. But I was still wiped out the rest of the day, and the next, Friday.

So Friday, I tried to sleep in and took a nap before having to work at 7 pm. Another whine. I HATE that shift. Almost every Monday (I had to trade this week so I could go to Young Women's Camp which I will also blog about at some point) I have to work 7 pm-7 am. It's killing me. I did it for my first two years of nursing and as an EMT, and I'm done. I'm tired during the shift and I HATE sleeping during the day, especially in the summer so I don't get enough sleep and I'm always soooo tired afterwards and it just throws my schedule off. So anyway, I didn't feel well at work that night, slept from about 8 am-11:45 am and couldn't get back to sleep. And wanted to more than anything so I could work again from 3 pm-3 am. Short turnover.

And then last night was just a terrible night. I was sooo tired, no longer exhausted, just sleep deprived. I got a new admission in the ICU and it was a disaster and nobody was helping me. Then one nurse did for the short time that I had to check on my other patient, and she gave my pt a HUGE bolus of a sedative accidentally, which dropped his blood pressure (he was already on an IV medication for low blood pressure), so we had to max out the BP med which dropped his heart rate into the 30's. What a mess. So anyway, I spent most of the rest of the night trying to correct these things. I was supposed to be off at 0330 and didn't get off until 0520.

Today I was too tired to go to my first two church meetings, which is always a bummer so I just went for Sacrament Meeting. And I've just been tired all day despite taking a nap. And my feet are all swollen which is a bummer. But hopefully tonight I'll get all caught up and feeling great once again. And maybe Chris and I will be up for a nice, shorter bike ride that won't leave me feeling exhausted. I learned my lesson, I just have to suck it up and realize I'm pregnant and a lot of my energy is going to making a baby so I don't have as much to expend on exercising, and I really need to get enough sleep.

Sorry for rambling and complaining.

31 Weeks!

Wow, 31 weeks down, only nine more to go!  And there's no mistaking now that I'm pregnant!  I'm still feeling great!  I think the little bouts of rib pain (my work allergy  ;-) ) I was having are gone.  And now as long as I don't slouch I'm pretty comfortable.  Although I realize why the second trimester is called the "honeymoon phase" of pregnancy.  I finally broke down and got some larger scrubs and a couple of other maternity things and am much happier.  I wish I would've just sucked it up and done it earlier.  But better late than never!

Keira seems to be doing fantastic!  She's still moving around and hiccuping and having fun!  I can't wait to meet her!  Not literally.  I can wait nine more weeks until she's ready.  But we are very excited!
Just imagine- this cute little girl is in me!

Wilber Get-Together

Sometimes it's so much fun to just get together with siblings.  This weekend Laura, John, and I hung out for a few hours.  We really just chatted and ate some cookies, but I had a blast!  It was so much fun being with them again!

John with his little princess, Kena.  She's probably the best taken care of dog ever, he's going to be an AMAZING dad someday!
Laura and John, wouldn't you run if you saw these two!?  ;-)

Happy 4th of July!

Hope you all had a fun 4th of July!  Ours was great, but not quite like being at home in Ouray.  We did some work around the house and in the evening hung out with some of Chris' friends.  We watched a fireworks show in Thornton that was quite awesome.  Probably the best I've ever seen.  But it wasn't the same as being in Ouray with the fireworks directly overhead and hearing the loud echo off the surrounding mountains.
Pictures of course don't do them justice.

On our way home we had the pleasure of meeting up with my studly little brother to see him on the job for the first time.  He got hired on with Westminster PD in December.  I'm soooo proud of him!!!  He has the FUNNIEST stories!

Never Ending Home Improvements

I think sometimes I wish I we had waited longer and saved up more money for a house that we didn't want to change every little thing about.  At the time we were super excited about getting an awesome house for a decent price that we totally wanted to change, remodel, and make it more like ours.  But it has become a bit overwhelming.  It is a never ending job.  There is always several things we're working on, and even more that we'd like to do in the future.  Here are our latest projects:

A couple of weeks ago my mom came into town and we spent a day painting the new doors we put up over a year ago.  They were already primer white so they didn't look terrible, but Chris and I just never got around to painting them.  It wasn't the most rewarding job because it's not something that makes a huge difference, but if you had looked at the doors closely, they look MUCH better now!  Thanks so much Mom!
We finally decided to get more organized and clean up our downstairs room by putting everything in storage bins.  So Chris built a storage area to store them in for easier access.  This is not quite finished yet either.  When we paint the room we'll also paint these and will probably put molding on the outside to make them look nicer and more uniform.  Soon we'll have another guest room!
We've lived here for almost three years and the entire time we didn't have closet doors.  A few months ago we got some for our other two rooms and finally we got one for our bedroom.  What a difference it makes!  Thanks Mom!
So the next project is finally finishing the downstairs TV room.  This has been a work in progress for the past 17 months.  HOPEFULLY it will be done this summer!  We have a little more framing and dry walling, mudding and everything associated with that, building an entertainment center, lighting, and I'm sure much more.  Oh yeah, and I guess while we're doing that we're going to build a closet to the left of the shelves since we tore the other one down to make more room for the entertainment center.

P.S.  Don't get my wrong, I still LOVE our house.  And if we keep fixing it up MAYBE I could stay here for the rest of our lives like my wonderful hubby wants to do.
