Christmas 2013

Christmas was so awesome this year!  Uncle John and Aunt Laurie came over at 8 AM so they could be there to watch the girls open their presents.  It was sooo wonderful and it meant so much to me!
Keira, of course, was in heaven!  She had sooo much fun!
Uncle John and his girlfriend Alli
Sierra had fun too!
Best Buds.  They adore each other!

Uncle John loves his niece! And she warmed up to him!
'
Keira LOVES Rapunzel and was super excited to get another one!
And also super excited about all of these princesses!
Chris enjoyed his gifts, especially the GoPro video camera for action video.
She looks like she's surprised, but really she's excited to eat it.
Chris was excited about the humongous package.  He forgot he had a guitar case on his wish list.

For dinner Chris invited our friends (and home teacher) Thomas and Debbie to join us.  They don't have any family in town.  My brother and sister each brought two to three delicious dishes so it was soooo nice not having to cook the entire day.  Chris made beef roast in the pressure cooker and it came out absolutely perfect.  Yum!  John and Alli had to get going for dessert, but our we had our neighbors Mike and Anna over.
What an absolutely PERFECT Christmas!!!

Keira's wonderful and many, many gifts.
Sierra's wonderful gifts.  (Not pictures- a bookshelf)

Preparing for Christmas 2012

Christmas is so magical again with kids!

Keira got the Nativity cutouts from our preschool group and we worked together to glue them on.  She did the faces by herself.  I was especially impressed with Mary's face.
She wanted to draw some more faces so I drew the outlines of their heads, and she did the rest.
I've been trying to take the girls to the Temple every month since I haven't been able to go since before Sierra was born.  Isn't this a BEAUTIFUL Nativity!!!

This cutie was more excited to eat the package than see what was inside.
Her preschool friends practiced the Nativity many times and performed it at an in-home nursing home.  It was really neat to see.  Keira loved it!  Here she was practicing to be an angel.
Christmas Eve!

Six Months

November 26, 2012
Well it's time for another monthly update.

Sierra decided to try her first solid food on Thanksgiving.  We started with brown rice cereal and milk for lunch and she joined in our Thanksgiving feast with sweet potatoes.  It went surprisingly well!  I think she did better than Keira initially did.  I felt like the milk wasn't quite satisfying her anymore.  She hadn't been sleeping through the night in over two weeks, needing to eat.  During feedings she acts like she had never eaten before and was absolutely ravenous!

But cleary, she has been getting enough to eat.  :-)
Sierra weighed 17 pounds 3 ounces and was 26.5 inches tall.  So she was 69% for weight and 72% for her height. (I was pleasantly surprised.)  And she's as healthy as can be!

Sierra is doing great!  She's still such a happy and content baby girl.  She is such a joy!  She can sit forever now.  She can say "dada".  She loves her family.  But I think she's starting to have a harder time with strangers.  We recently had one of my friends watch her for a couple of hours so we could go on a date and she cried for a long time.  :-(  She loves watching Keira's sillyness.  We have started bathing her in the big bathtub with Keira and that's going well.  She loves baths now.  Keira likes them a lot more now also.  Sierra is already getting better in the bathtub, she's been a little wobbly.

This week I graduated her into her crib, from the bassinet in our room.  I had an especially hard time this time.  I just love having her in there with us.  But I was hoping it would help her sleep through the night, perhaps just because I wouldn't hear her as well.  Of course it went just fine!
Well I think I'll cut it a little short this time since last time's was soooo long.  ;-)  And maybe I can't remember everything and didn't write that much at the time this was supposed to be posted.  ;-)

Friends!

We are so blessed to have so many good friends in our lives!  My good friend Jessica has two kids my kid's ages!
Sierra and Landon

Keira and Sydney
We do once a week preschool with friends from church.  They are so cute and fun to watch!
I've been so impressed with the creativity of my friends when they teach preschool.  Here she sprayed shaving cream on the table so they could draw letters into it.
My best friend, Maria, and her family just moved to Canada for a year and a half for Tony to become a Catholic judge.  Their oldest daughter Jordan just celebrated her fifth birthday at Trampoline World!  Keira was in heaven!

Afterwards, we went to a Christmas/going away party for them.  Sierra and their youngest daughter, Grace are become great friends also!
And yup, even I have friends!  ;-)  A couple of weeks ago we had a girls' night out to watch the new Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn Part 2.
